Gouache painting of a beech branch bursting with new spring leaves, onto which is woven a golden robin's nest, shot through with violets and the tiny white stars of chickweed. In the nest are five tiny blue eggs. One is just hatching, and from one stretches up a pink baby bird, yelling for a worm being fed to it by its doting robin parent. Another robin flies away off the page to fetch more food.
