image 4 of 6: a museum-catalog half-length image of the actual historic jacket. It is photographed on a mannequin angled seen in 3/4 view angled to the viewer's left, with the arms held out in front in what would be a relaxed manner if the mannequin was actually a person. The background is dark gray, illuminated with a strong central light.
The black damask of the jacket has faded to dark brown over time. The cuffs are only folded back halfway towards the elbow, and the fabric is a cream and gold striped brocade, in which a motif reminiscent of an endless knot is faintly visible. The pleated ribbon around the cuffs is closer to peach in color, with a white brocaded pattern barely visible. The jacket buttons closed at the waist but not at the bust, and the gap is filled in with a black stomacher trimmed with lace to match the neckline. It is worn over a full, periwinkle petticoat. Both the jacket skirt and petticoat angle sharply out from the waist, and then down at about a 60-degree angle
The mannequin has been styled with various accessories. It's head and shoulders are swathed in sheer black lace. Atop the head is black three-cornered had with silver scallop-edged lace around the brim. The face is covered with a black bauta mask with an attached veil covering the lower half of the face. A closed black fan has been inserted in the mannequin's left hand.
